Thanks For Thinking Of Me

Hi everyone! I’m here today with a card for the Pretty Pink Posh Cutting Edge blog hop hosted by the ever so sweet and awesome – Paulina. I enjoyed the shaker card blog hop and this one this definitely another fun one.

I have been recently enjoying die cuts, and my sister who is my most generous gift giver, has given me quite a few dies over the past few weeks and I was excited to use them. For this card, I used the Spellbinders Inspire – Birds On A Wire die. It’s a very elegant and versatile die.

Here is my card —

Thanks for Thinking of me1

I started this card with a panel of Tim Holtz distress watercolor paper cut to  5 1/4 by 4 inches. Using the Tim Holtz mini distress ink blending tool, I blended in the inks from top to bottom. I started with Fired Brick on top then blended in Spiced Marmalade and at the bottom I used Mustard Seed. To darken the colors a little bit, I went over the entire panel with some Antique Linen distress ink.

For the die cuts, I used the Birds on a Wire from Spellbinders and cut 3 rows of birds from some Bazzill Licorice Twist card stock. I used the Xyron sticker maker to adhere them diagonally on the top of the card leaving some space on the bottom left for my sentiment.

For the sentiment, I used the Thanks set from Simon Says Stamp and stamped it with black pigment ink from ColorBox and then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I have recently been loving the pigment ink + clear embossing powder combination.

To finish the card, I adhered the front panel to a top folding standard size made some Bazzill Licorice Twist card stock.

I am also entering this card for the current challenge at A Blog Named Hero. The theme for this challenge is Ombre.

  1. So striking, Malini … such a gorgeous ombré background, just perfect with those silhouette birds! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving me a sweet comment … we both did ombré! Anita 🙂

  2. I’ve seen that die in the store, and never really could think what to do with it. Seeing your card gives me ideas. I love the CAS look of your card, and the ombre background is wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing this!
