SMILE – It’s Your Birthday

Hi everyone. I’m back with a new card for you today – well not really a new card. I made this card a few months ago and life happened before I was able to post this. So here I am today sharing this card.

Here is the card —

Smile Its Your Birthday

I started this card with a card base from Core’dinations. I cut the largest rectangle from the MFT Stitched Rectangle Stax from Neenah Solar White card stock. I created a circle template and colored it in using different colors of Tim Holtz Distress inks to create a rainbow ink blended effect.

For the sentiment, I cut the smile die cut from Little Yellow Bicycle from Bazzil Black Licorice card stock. To make it look like an embellishment, I added some Wink of Stella to the entire word and then finished it off with Glossy Accents. After it dried, it looked like an enamel accent which I really liked. I will definitely do that more often. For the second sentiment, I spelled out the words using Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABC and embossed it with white embossing powder on black card stock.

To finish the card, I added some black enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye to give it a finished look.

That’s it for this card.

I really feel productive and hopefully this continues until next year. Four months in a craft funk is no joke. I’m pretty excited to be creating again – stress free.

I’m Back!!!!! and a new card

Hi everyone! It’s been almost two and a half months since my last post and since I made a card. My life these past two months were far from uneventful. My uncle came into town and stayed for a month and I spent most of my time with him. After he left, I just couldn’t get back into the swing of things. I felt pressured to make a card and every time I sat down to make one, my creative juices were completely dried up. I gave up and did something else and that happened pretty much everyday for the next month or so. I tried so hard but nothing worked. So I decided to give it some time and step away. Then today, I was watching a video tutorial on YT and I felt like creating. So here we are….

I started with the different challenge blogs I frequently join and listed the ones I wanted to join. This brings us to today’s post…

Here is my card –

I started this card with some Hero Arts Snow layering paper cut to a card base measuring 5 x 3 3/4 inches. I masked off a 1 inch column vertically towards the left of the card stock. I stamped the different flowers from the Truly Appreciated set from Hero Arts. I decided to use Versafine Onyx Black ink so I could clear emboss the flowers. For the shading, the wanted to have an ombre effect, I used the following inks – Hero Arts Soft Pool, Hero Arts Tide Pool, and Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue. For the sentiment, I used one of the greetings from the Little Hoot set from Hero Arts again stamping it in Versafine Onyx black and clear embossing powder.

To finish the card, I added some enamel dots from My Minds Eye and black gemstones from Hero Arts.

That’s it for this card.

This card is an entry for the following challenges:

I Only Have Eyes For You

Hi everyone!

Today I’m sharing a card for the Create A Smile March Guest Designer Call.

Guest Designer Call

The guest call will run until February 13 so if you’re interested, go and check it out here.

For this card, I decided to use one of the freebies they have on their website. Here is my card —

IMG_5084

Recently I have been enjoying using digital stamps. I used a Newton’s Nook freebie and I purchased some from Gerda Steiner and now I’m using another freebie from Create A Smile. I will always love clear stamps and I will never stop using them, but digi’s are pretty cool to use once in a while.

I started this card with a panel of Neenah Solar White card stock that measures 5 x 3 3/4 inches. I wanted to color some embossing paste so I used Audrey Blue and Doll Pink from Simon Says Stamp to color some white embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi. I used a chevron stencil from Heidi Swapp and did alternate colors of the paste.

For the focal panel, I cut the image from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling card but I wanted the top to have a straight edge but still keep the stitched detail – so I used the straight border die from the Stitched Borders 2 from Pretty Pink Posh to cut the top part.

I colored the bird with some Copic markers. I will mention the colors in the supply list below. For the sentiment, I was struck with the bird’s big eyes so I wanted to use a puny sentiment related to that. I stamped the sentiment from the Only Have Eyes for you set from Simon Says Stamp with Versafine Onyx black ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder.

To finish the card, I adhered the stitched panel to the chevron piece and I adhered the chevron panel to a standard size card from Neenah Solar White. I also added  Glossy Accents to the eyes of the bird and his stomach. I used enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye to tie in all the colors together.

That’s it for this card.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream

Hi everyone! I’m here today with a card for a friend of mine who loves ice cream. She is celebrating her birthday soon and I thought it was a great idea to give her an ice cream card.

Here is my card —

I Scream You ScreaM

I started this card with a standard size card with the fold on top from Neenah Solar White card stock. I selected a rainbow paper from Bo Bunny’s Lemonade Stand 6×6 paper pack and adhered it flush on to the base covering the entire front panel.

I used the left over rainbow paper and stamped scoops of ice cream from the Ice Dream stamp set on the different colors of the paper and fussy cut each one. I also stamped the cone and colored it in with Copic Markers. I arranged the scoops in rainbow order and stuck them to each other to look like they were stacked. I attached the entire ice cream cone on a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock cut with a flag banner. For the sentiment, I stamped the “I Scream” message from the same Ice Dream set in Memento Luxe Love Letter ink. For a glossy finish, I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder (my current favorite technique).

To finish the card,  I attached the flag banner on the card base. I also added some DIY enamel dots I made from perler beads.

That’s it for this card. For a list of all the products and tools I used, please refer to the supply list below.

Friendship Has Its Perks

Hi everyone!

I made this card a while back but failed to post it earlier so I decided to post it today. This card uses the supplies from the Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit.

Here is my card —

Friendship Has Its Perks

I started this card with a standard size card cut from Neenah Classic Cream card stock with the fold on top. I adhered a piece of patterned paper with the same size from Basic Grey’s Grand Bazaar 6×6 paper pad. For the top panel, I cut a 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 panel from the same Neenah Classic Cream card stock. I stamped the small coffee mug from the What’s Brewing set towards the right of the panel like they were stacked using the masking technique. I stamped it in a variety of inks from Simon Says Stamp which will be listed below in my supply list.

For the sentiment, I used the stamp from the same What’s Brewing set and stamped it vertically with Doll Pink ink from Simon Says Stamp.

To finish the card, I adhered some enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye and attached the panel on the card base using foam tape.

For a complete list of all the tools and products I used, please refer to the supply list below.

That’s it for this card. Thanks for reading.

Keep Calm and Read a Book

Hi everyone! I’m here today with a card using supplies from the Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit. It’s the last day of the month, so I wanted to get one more card for this kit before I move on on the October kit.

When I first saw this kit, I honestly had many ideas going through my head and I knew I would make quite a few cards. However, due to time constraints and just a general lack of of time (September felt like it just came and went), I haven’t fully made use of the kit. So, I intend within the next few weeks to just use some products from the kit mixed with other brands and kits.

Here is my card — (sorry for the picture quality, it was a gloomy day and this was the best shot I could get)

Keep Calm and Read a Book

I started this card with some Neenah Solar White card stock cut to a standard size card with the fold on top. For the front of the base, I adhered one of the patterned papers included in the kit from October Afternoon. For the white panel, I stamped the shelf from the set included in the kit with some Hero Arts ink in Cup O’Joe ink. Then I randomly stamped the different kinds of books with a variety of inks from Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp. I wanted the shelf to be tall and a little wobbly. To make the panel stand out, I distressed the edges with a mini ink blending tool and some Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen. I attached the panel on the left of the card with foam tape.

For the sentiment, I decided to make a custom sentiment using Milo’s ABC from Lawn Fawn (my favorite alphabet set EVER). I spelled the phrase “Keep Calm and Read a Book” and stamped it with with Versafine Onyx black ink and topped it with clear embossing powder.

To finish the card, I attached some enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye for added dimension and interest.

For a list of all the products I used, please check the supply list below.

And here is my card —

Safe Travels - Missing You Already

I started this card with some Slate card stock from Simon Says Stamp cut to a standard size card with the fold on top. For the elements for the sketch, I rotated the sketch counter clockwise placing the smaller panel on top instead of on the right. The patterned paper I used are from the Chalk Studio collection from My Mind’s Eye.

For the bicycle, i used the Spellbinders Inspire Bicycle die from some black card stock and adhered it to the larger panel. To make the bike sturdy, I attached 4 pieces of the same cut out from white card stock below the black piece.

For the sentiment, I used the Life Is A Journey set from Simon Says Stamp and stamped the sentiment with Versafine black ink and topped it with clear embossing powder.

To finish the card, I added some enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye for some dimension and added interest.

That’s it. Thanks for reading.

The theme for this challenge is LET’S BE CLEAR! Any clear item can be used. For this card, my clear items are – a clear card base and clear embossing powder.

This card is also an entry for the Lawnscaping Challenge Blog.

Challenge 85

The theme for this challenge is to use the summer color combo provided in the graphic above.

Here is my card —

photo 2

I started this card with a 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 piece of Neenah Solar White card stock. I stamped the Lawn Fawn Chevron Borders stamp with Memento inks in Bahama Blue, Dandelion and Tangelo alternately on the panel. For the sentiment, I used a sentiment from the Trult Appreciated set from Hero Arts. I stamped it with black pigment ink and clear embossed it. We were allowed to use little bits of black and white so I wanted the sentiment to stand out. To add a little more black and white elements, I added some enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye.

For the card base, I didn’t have those fancy pre-cut clear cards, so I just used thick transparency sheets from Staples and made my own clear card base. I rounded the corners of the main panel and stuck it on the front of the card and I also stuck coordinating pieces white card stock to cover the adhesives.

For a complete list of tools and supplies, please the supply list below.

That’s it for this for this card.

Emboss Resist Watercolor Card – Love You

Hi everyone! Today’s card is an entry for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

wednesdayblog-logo

wed-newchallenge-header

The theme for this week’s challenge is ANYTHING GOES! (my favorite since I can completely do whatever I want) 🙂

I tried a technique I learned from the last Online Card Class – Watercolor for Card Makers. Here is my card —

Love You

I started this card with a panel of 90 lb Strathmore watercolor paper cut to 4 x 5 1/4. I stamped the Recollection Tapestry background stamp I got at my Michael’s with VersaMark ink. Then I heat embossed it with some Hero Arts white embossing powder.  I used different shades of green and blue watercolor for the panel. I wet the entire surface first and applied the different colors horizontally. The embossed part resisted the watercolor to reveal the design.

For the sentiment, I one of the tags from the Memory Box Clasic Tags die and stamped and embossed the Love You sentiment from the Love You stamp set from Simon Says Stamp with Hero Arts white embossing powder on Bazzill Licorice Twist card stock. I used some black twine to attach the tag and embellished using black enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye. I finished the card by attaching it to a Bazzill Licorice Twist card base with foam tape.

All the supplies are listed below.

That’s it for this card. Thanks for reading!

I used the Recollection Tapestry backdrop set which is only available at Michael’s so I am not going to be able to link it below.

You’re So Special To Me – Simon Says Stamp June 2014 Card Kit

Here is my card —

You're So Special To Me SSSCK

I started this card with Neenah Solar White cut and folded to a landscape standard size card. I covered the entire front of the card base with a patterned paper from the Now and Then collection from My Mind’s Eye. For the front panel, I cut another piece of Neenah Solar White to 5 x 3 3/4 inches. I stamped a sentiment from the Year Round Sentiments from Hero Arts with black pigment ink from ColorBox and clear embossing powder. As much as I love the images in the set, I’m not too fond of the sentiments because I think they are quite small. I like bigger and bold sentiments. For the images, I stamped 3 solid flower backgrounds in assorted Hero Arts inks and then white embossed the scribbles that go on top. I also did the same for the leaves. For the stem, I used the fine tip of the Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Vintage Photo. I also accented the centers of the flowers with the Now and Then enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye in contrasting colors.

To finish the card, I attached the panel to the card base with foam tape and accented the panel further with some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

That’s it for the card. I made a video showing the step by step process in making the card. You can watch it here or on You Tube. I also have the complete supply list below.
