Wednesday Card Day – You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Grey

Wednesday Card Day Intro

Hi everyone! Today I’m here with another card for the Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit. This card also uses some great products from Lawn Fawn that aren’t in the kit.

Here is my card —

You Make Me Happy When Skies Are Grey

I started this card with Neenah Solar White card stock cut to a standard size card with the fold on top. I measured and cut the sunshine rays paper from Lawn Fawn’s Hello Sunshine Collection and adhered it to the front of the card. I measured the paper to make sure the rays were at the bottom center as if the rays were shining. I then used the Lawn Fawn Speech Bubble border die using the grey polka dot paper from the same collection to place on top. For the sentiment, I used the orange alphabet stickers from Kelly Purkey included in the kit. I saw this sentiment on Pinterest and knew that it would work well with the card. For the image, I stamped the own and log from Lawn Fawn’s Critters in the Forest set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with alcohol markers. I have inexpensive markers from Hobby Lobby that I’m using to learn to blend colors. I’m still trying my best and learning how to blend with the help of YT videos but somehow my finished product don’t match up. But practice makes perfect so I will defintely keep practicing.

To finish the card, I stuck the speech bubble and owl image with foam adhesive and added some sequins from Darice that was included in the kit.

Thanks — Sequin Shaker Card

Hi everyone!

When I saw this amazing sequin shaker card from Laura Bassen, I knew I had to make one. Even her very cheerful and happy process video in making the shaker card drew me in.

I have never made a shaker card before but with the fast popularity sequins are gaining, I knew it was a definite must to create.

I didn’t have the die cut that Laura used from Kelly Purkey so I had to improvise.

Here is my card —

Thanks Shaker Card

and the front panel with the sequins spread out

Thanks Shaker Front Panel

I started this card with a standard size card folded on the top from some Bazzill card stock in Patina. I die cut the 3rd biggest frame from the Sizzix Majestic Labels #2 on some polka dot paper from the Doilies 6×6 paper pad from Ki Memories. I also diecut the same shape from fun foam to use as the dimension for the sequins. I placed a small sheet of acetate to the back of the patterned paper panel.

For the sentiment, the die cut the Simon Says Stamp “thanks” die from some Blue Calypso paper from Bazzill and placed on top of the acetate. The die that Laura used had a built in sentiment, the thanks die cut acted as the built in sentiment.

Putting the card together was a struggle because I did not plan ahead for adhesives. I started with the card base, then the foam piece. I put some mixed pastel sequins I’ve had forever in my stash then the front panel with the acetate. I used my Xyron sticker maker to put some adhesive on the thanks die cut and adhered it to the center of the acetate.

That’s it for this card. Thanks for reading.

SSS October Kit Card #3 – Happy Birthday

*** This is my third card for the Simon Says Stamp October Kit and I have one more coming tomorrow and then I will move on to the November kit. Sorry real life took over and October was just hectic and crazy.

Hey everyone! Today I made a card using the supplies from the Simon Says Stamp October card kit.

Here is my card —

Happy Birthday Flag Banners

I started this card with the aqua card stock included in the kit. I cut and scored it to a standard size landscape card. Using some of the awesome Lawn Fawn papers, I used my Cuttlebug and cut some flags and pennants using the Sizzix Framelits Banner set. I arranged the banners and flags diagonally adhered it with some foam adhesives. Then I punched a hole in each one and threaded the twine from May Arts on each of the holes and secured the tails at the back with some tape. For the sentiment, I used the Kelly Purkey Teal Alpha stickers and spelled Happy Birthday. To finish the card, I used an assortment of sequins from Lawn Fawn’s Into the Woods collection to embellish the card.

Thats it for today. I will be back with my last card for the October kit.
