You Are My Favorite Friend

Hi everyone! I’m here with a card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

For this card, I used the supplies that came with the June 2014 card kit. This card kit, like all the other kits is a great value and in my opinion one of the best kits that has been released. The theme for the SSS Wednesday Challenge is “You Gotta Have Friends”.

Here is my card —

You Are My Favorite Friend

I started this card with Bazzill Candy Hearts card stock cut to a standard size card with the fold on top. For the front panel, I used Neenah Solar White card stock cut to 5 x 3 3/4 inches. For the background of the white panel, I used a technique that Jennifer McGuire demonstrated on this card. Jennifer demonstrated this technique using blues and greens to create a water scene. I decided to use greys to create a neutral background. Any alcohol marker will do but I used the Fine Touch markers in different shades of warm grey.

For the flowers, I stamped the different circle flowers using lighter inks and the details of the flowers using darker inks. I will mention every ink color I used in the supply list below. For the sentiment, I also used the Favorite Flowers set that came with the kit. Using Studio G black pigment ink, I stamped the sentiment and used some Martha Stewart clear embossing powder to make the sentiment pop.

To finish the card, I attached the panel to the base and accented the flowers and leaves with the Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen.

That’s it for this card. I will be back soon with more cards from this card kit.

Thank You For Everything

Hi everyone! I’m here today with a thank you card. It seems like I have been on a thank you card kick lately. I used one my favorite stamps from Simon Says Stamp. It is the Life Is A Journey set. I got this set from the September card kit and I have been in love with it.

The techniques I used for this card came from a tip that Laura Bassen shared during the Clean and Simple – One Layer Cards from Online Card Classes.

Here is my card —

Thank You For Everything Flowers

I started this card with Neenah Solar White card stock cut to a standard size card. I used the dots stencil from The Crafter’s Workshop and sponged it with some Memento Desert Storm ink. I also used the Simon Says Stamp Banner stencil and sponged it on the center with more Desert Sand ink.

For the flowers, I used the Simon Says Stamp Life is a Journey set and various shadow ink colors from Hero Arts (I will list them in the supply list below). I stamped a random pattern using the various flowers and leaves from the set diagonally.

For the sentiment, I used the “thank you” and “for everything” stamps from the same SSS set. I stamped the thank you on the stenciled banner and the “for everything” below the banner using Hero Arts Cup O’ Joe ink.

The technique that Laura shared was that we can show dimension through some illusion by layering inks.

SUPPLY LIST:
1. Neenah Solar White card stock
2. The Crafter’s Workshop Dot Stencil
3. Simon Says Stamp Life is a Journey set
4. Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Green Hills, Ultra Pink, Passion Flower, Cornflower
Blue, Fresh Peach, Soft Cantaloupe, Butter Bar, Tide Pool, Lemon Yellow,
     Mint Julep, Cup o’ Joe)
5. Memento Ink in Desert Sand

This is shared for the Work It Wednesday feature over at the Simon Says Stamp blog

That’s it for this card. Thanks for reading!

Thinking of You

Hey everyone. Today’s card is an entry for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

The theme for the challenge is ANIMAL ANTICS. I was hopping along the STAMPtember Blog Hop over at Simon Says Stamp and I came across this card from Jennifer McGuire. It totally blew my mind and I was in awe of her creative genius. I immediately fell in love with it and decided to try the same technique. Jennifer used the Lots of Dots set and the Big Hello die cut. I did not have any of those products with me so I had to improvise.

Here is my card —

Thinking Of You

I started the card with some Bazzill Basics card stock in Feather Boa folded to a standard size card and I used some Strathmore water color paper for a white panel.

I had a stencil of a bird and a heart that I recently got from Hobby Lobby that I thought would work great. Now for the dots…I originally thought of using a stylus to make the dots but then I saw the berries in the SSS Life is a Journey stamp set that I thought would work well. So I started stamping. I divided the bird into 6 parts so I could change colors easily. I used different Hero Arts shadow inks – Pale Tomato, Fresh Peach, Soft Cantaloupe, Butter Bar, Soft Pool and Tide Pool in that order. After I stamped the dots, I used my stylus to fill in some areas that were bare. I also used one of the hearts using the same technique in Pale Tomato Ink.

For the sentiment, I used one from the Hero Arts OWH Year Round Sentiments. I embossed it in silver embossing powder. To finish off the card, I adhered the white panel onto the card stock base with some foam adhesives.

SUPPLY LIST:

1. Bazzill Basics card stock in Feather Boa
2. Strathmore watercolor paper
3. StenWorks bird and heart stencil
4. SSS Life Is A Journey stamp set
5. Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Pale Tomato, Fresh Peach, Soft Cantaloupe, Butter Bar, Soft Pool, Tide Pool
6. Hero Arts OWH Year Round Sentiments
7. American Crafts Zing silver embossing powder

That’s it for this card. Thanks for reading 🙂

Thank You For Everything

Hey everyone!

I recently ordered the Simon’s Says Stamp Monthly Card Kit and I am in love with it. I have made  few cards with it already which I will be blogging about in the next few days, and there is still so much supplies left for more cards. Definitely worth 19.95 if you’re a member and 24.95 if you buy each kit on its own.

So on to the kit for this month —

SSS_cardkit_sept13_final_web

This being my first kit, I was super impressed with everything that came in the kit. The name of the kit is “Journey of Life”. There was a great selection of card stock and patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye, even the wood embellishments from Studio Calico, banner stencil and the ColorBox white pigment ink were great. But honestly in my opinion, the stamp set was the total winner. I love it because its so diverse that you can use it for a thank you card because of all the flowers and the sentiments can easily be used for traveling themed or I miss you cards. Just a great buy all together in my opinion. 🙂

So here is my card —

Thank You For Everything 1

I started the card with some Bazzill Basics card stock in Licorice Twist folded in to a square card that measures 4 1/2 by 4 1/2. To that, I adhered a piece of patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye that came in the kit. For the center sentiment, I used the stencil included in the kit. I used the straight banner stencil and with the sponge dauber, I rubbed some Hero Arts shadow ink in Tide Pool until the entire surface of the banner was covered. I stamped the “thank you” with some Hero Arts Charcoal ink. Below the shaded banner, I stamped the second part of the greeting “for everything” in some Hero Arts Tide Pool ink. For the border, I used the different flowers from the same set using Hero Arts shadow ink in Charcoal. I just spaced them around the edge of the card in a circle pattern.

That’s it for this card. I’ll be back in the next few days for more cards using this months kit.
