Simon Says Stamp Challenge – We’re So Trendy

So – I’ve decided to join another Simon Says Stamp Challenge and this week’s challenge focuses on the new and up and coming trends for paper crafters and scrapbookers – Chevron Stripes, Hexagons and Neon Colors.

Chevron Stripes are now everywhere – patterned paper, printed fabric for skirts and dresses and even handbags. Hexagons are also seen everywhere these days – many companies have released 6×6 pads with many hexagon patterns. My favorite being that one hexagon pattern paper from Lawn Fawn’s Dewey Decimal Collection. Lawn Fawn also has an amazing interlocking stamp set with a brick, herringbone and of course a hexagon pattern. And neon colors are also very present. In fact, Hero Arts just came up with a line of neon colored stamp inks.

Looking at these trends and trying to visualize the card I was going to make, I automatically thought of using Chevron stripes  – but I have been using that so much lately that I decided to challenge myself. Then I came up with the idea of mixing new trends with a classic technique. That’s when I started visualizing a hexagon Iris folded card using neon strips of paper. So, here is my card for the week —

I used a hexagon template and 1 inch strips of neon colored paper to create my pattern. I kept the sentiment very simple and small because I wanted the colors of the pattern to be the focus of the card. I adhered everything on to black card stock so the neon colors would become even brighter.
