Cheers!

Hi everyone! Today I am here with a card to celebrate the New Year. This card works great too as a congratulations or birthday card. It was my first time using gold ink and I loved it.

I made the brown card first using a textured card stock from The Paper Studio. I didn’t think that the gold ink stood out as much as I wanted it to, so I decided to try using another color. I chose the Blue Calypso card stock from Bazzil Basics. In person, the blue card stood out more but when I took the picture I felt that the brown stood out more. That’s why I decided to show you both cards.

This is an entry for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The theme for this challenge BLING IT ON!

and also an entry for the Pretty Pink Posh 10 Minute Craft Dash (I’m so sad that this is the last challenge – I hope you change your mind Paulina).

If you consider both cards, I defintely went over the 10 minute mark but if you base it on the first card I made which is the brown one, I finished that in 6 minutes and 18 seconds. The theme for this challenge is ANYTHING GOES!

Cheers

I started this card with a circle mask for the center. I cut the circle with the Sizzix Circle Framelits on some Inkadinkado stamping masking paper. I stuck the circle at the center and then I started stamping. I used the Chevron Backdrops from Lawn Fawn using the Delicata Golden Glitz pigment ink. I stamped the entire background and removed the masking paper to reveal the empty circle. For the sentiment and image, I used a stamp from Studio G which I found in the dollar bins at Michael’s. I stamped the image and sentiment at the center of the circle with the same gold pigment ink. And to finish the card, I rounded the bottom edges.

That’s it for this card. Which one do you prefer? I personally prefer the blue. 🙂

Always Be Strong

Hey everyone! Today’s card is an entry for the 10 Minute Craft Dash over at Paulina’s blog – Pretty Pink Posh.

Normally there is a color palette to follow, but this time the card needed to incorporate buttons in some way. So here is my card —

Always Be Strong

It took me 8 minutes and 37 seconds to finish this card.

I started this card with some Natural card stock from Neenah cut to a landscape standard size card. I cut out the heart image from a 12×12 sheet from ColorBok’s Sweet Memories collection. I used some maroon ribbon and attached it to the hearts. I also accented each heart with buttons. I attached the hearts to look like they were hanging from somewhere.

For the sentiment, I used the Be set from Simon Says Stamp. For that set, you can mix and match sentiments and I picked “Always Be Strong”. I stamped the first and last line of the sentiment with some Rich Cocoa ink and for the “be” part, I used Rose Bud both from Memento.

To finish the card, I embellished with some matching sequins for added interest.

SUPPLY LIST:
1. Natural cardstock from Neenah
2. 12×12 sheet from ColorBok’s Sweet Memories collection.
3. buttons and ribbon from Walmart
4. Simon Says Stamp Be sentiments

6. assorted sequins

That’s it for today. Thanks for reading.

So Thankful For ZYou Flowers

I started this card with some Neenah Creative Collections card stock in Colonial Blue cut to a standard size landscape card. Then on some Neenah Solar White card stock, I stamped the Martha Stewart Stamp Around the Page set using the flowers from the Antique Borders collection. I colored the stamped image. This was very simple coloring. I used the American Crafts Chromatix Markers. I did not do any shading because for sure I knew I would go past the 10 minutes if I did. But I think it still looks ok without shading. For the sentiment, I used a set from Studio G and stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I tied a blue variagated/ombre embroidery floss from DMC and and rounded all four corners of the white panel. To finish the card, I adhered the entire panel on the blue card stock with foam adhesives.

I finished this card in 8 minutes and 49 seconds. Yay —- new record for me 🙂

This card was inspired by this video by Kristina Werner. I loved the idea of this card so I used her card as a sketch and CASE’d it.

I started this card with some cream card stock from Neenah. On the bottom of the card, I stamped the Stampabilities Quatrefoil background stamp with ColorBox Chestnut Roan ink.  Then, I created a patterned paper panel using strips of paper from ColorBok’s Miso Pretty Collection. At the bottom of the panel, I stamped a sentiment from a Studio G birthday stamp. Using another Studio G set, the stamped the banner, cut it and adhered it to the top portion of the card. To finish it off, I added some natural twine from Lawn Fawn and rounded the outside corners.

SUPPY LIST
1. Neenah Creative Collection Natural card stock
2. ColorBok Miso Pretty Patterned Paper Collection
3. Stampabilities Quatrefoil background stamp
4. ColorBox ink in Chestnut Roan
5. 2 Studio G Stamp sets (one for the sentiment and the other for the banner)
6. Lawn Fawn Single Natural Cord

Wish Big – 10 Minute Craft Dash

Hey everyone!

CD_23

Today I will be sharing a card I made for the 10 Minute Craft Dash over at Paulina’s blog (Pretty Pink Posh) The 10 Minute Craft Dash is celebrating its 1st birthday and Paulina has created an amazing bloghop for this. Along the way, there will be prizes for comments made throughout the bloghop. As I was blog hopping, let me tell you the inspiration was just sky high. Thanks Paulina for an amazing event – I am officially in love with chickies 🙂 🙂

As I was about to start this card, I got my supplies ready. I decided to use some circle and scallop punches and I also decided on which pattered paper I wanted to use. I also prepared my card sketch. I honestly thought that this would be a piece of cake.  I did get a giant wake up call about how challenging creating a card in 10 minutes would be.

So here is my card

wishbig1

I finished this in 9 minutes and 51 seconds.

I started with a cream card stock as base and to that I adhered a piece of yellow pattered paper from ColorBok’s Beach House Collection to cover the entire front of the card. For the images and sentiment, I stamped a mini set I got from Hampton Art. I colored the owl and sentiment using the American Crafts Chromatix markers. I cut them out using 3/4 inch circle punch. To add more color, I punched out 3 1-inch scallops from some red tone on tone plaid paper from the same ColorBok collection to back the circle pieces. This was all done at the 7 minute mark. At this point, I knew the only thing I had to was to tie some twine on the left side of the card and I would finish this in approximately 8 minutes.

Then things got a little crazy – I realized that I didn’t like the twine so much and maybe a border strip would look better. So I rummaged through my drawer and looked for my Martha Stewart Lattice Edge punch and I was in fast forward mode. I punched both ends of the red paper and glued a strip of the yellow paper at the center for some contrast. And that was it – as I pressed stop, I had 9 seconds to spare. Whew!!!! That was a close one.
