Flying By To Say Happy Birthday

Hey everyone! Today’s card is an entry for the Lawnscaping Challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp.

Challenge 65

The theme for the challenge this week is —- MY FAVORITE THINGS. Which means that to make the card, we needed to use some of our favorite crafting tools. I picked the following  – Lawn Fawn stamps (of course), Kraft card stock, alcohol markers (I used American Crafts Chromatix markers) and distress inks.

Here is my card —

2Flying By To Say HB2

I started with some Kraft card stock cut to a landscape standard size card. Then I used some Neenah Solar White card stock and masked off the bottom area to make the blue part. I used Broken China and Salty Ocean distress inks for the sky and Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint for the grass. Then for my scene, I used 2 Lawn Fawn sets. For my paper airplanes, I used Flying By and for the cupcakes, I used Bake Me A Cake. I colored the cupcakes using the American Crafts Chromatix markers and paper pieced the paper planes. I wanted it to look like the planes were flying by to drop off birthday cupcakes, so I drew black swirly lines to look like strings with a Pilot GTech pen. For the sentiment, I used the stamp from Flying By and combined it with the sentiment from Year 2. I stamped the sentiment with ColorBox Chestnut Roan ink.

I know that we were only supposed to use our favorite crafting products, but it doesn’t hurt that I love cupcakes as well. 🙂
